Making money online is a proven lucrative task, which can offer a plethora of opportunities for financial and personal freedom. Videos, articles, and forums flood the internet with an overwhelming number of “insider secrets” which are nothing more than get-rich-quick schemes in disguise. Fortunately, there are still many great ways to make money on the internet without having to rely on selling products or having customers sign up for subscription-based services. When searching for the best ways to make money online, it is critical to find websites that are going to offer fair pay for the work expected, as well as ones that aren’t over-saturated with workers. Here are three ways to start making money online with just a computer and willpower.

  1. Amazon Mechanical Turk

Mechanical Turk is a micro-tasking website offered by the Amazon corporation. Here, clients need a variety of tasks done, from artificial intelligence training to simple surveys, which the workers complete remotely. While the pay for each of these tasks is quite low, typically several cents, completing them takes just seconds. It is important to note, however, that acceptance into this platform is not guaranteed and is largely determined by geographical location. Clients may only need people from particular countries for certain tasks. Because of this, Mechanical Turk needs to limit the number of people they accept from various countries where there is low demand.

  1. Microsoft UHRS

Offered through Microsoft, UHRS is another micro-tasking website similar to Mechanical Turk. UHRS stands for Universal Human Relevance System, which means that they need people to do tasks that are impossible with artificial intelligence. Many of the tasks on this website involve evaluating search engine results, chatbot responses, and text-to-speech programs. As with Mechanical Turk, there are eligibility factors that regulate acceptance into UHRS, the biggest being an English language assessment. Recently, this assessment has opened up to all United States citizens, with other countries receiving the assessment when demand increases.

  1. Prolific

There are many survey websites out there, all offering to pay the most amount of money for the least amount of work. Prolific, however, has shown to offer the most amount of money for the time spent. There are many differences between prolific and other survey websites. Prolific only gives people surveys that they already qualify for, meaning that being screened out in the middle of a survey is exceptionally rare. The surveys from this website are often from university students and faculty who are performing scientific research or completing a thesis. Payment is through PayPal and not an arbitrary point system that offers rewards instead of payment.

Difficulties are extensive when beginning to earn money online. Avoiding business systems that offer large amounts of money with little to no work is a critical step in overcoming these difficulties. While the platforms mentioned above are a great start, they are certainly not conclusive. Many people chose to start an online business, create passive income through affiliate marketing, or sell their skills by freelancing. Regardless of the route taken, working online is a job like anything else. It is not a way to become wealthy with no effort, nor is it a means to avoid occupational responsibilities.
